Research grants of up to $5000 are offered by the Australian Library and Information Association. The Research Grant Award is open to library practitioners and early career LIS researchers who are Members of ALIA.

The purpose of the award is to enable the recipient to undertake a research program on a selected library or information issue of present and future relevance to the development and improvement of library and information services in Australia.

As part of the Interlibrary Resource Sharing Code (ILRS) code review the ALIA ILL Advisory Committee revises its Best Practice Guidelines in 2019. The Best Practice Guidelines are intended to work with the ILRS Code. They provide further information on streamlining work practices or ensuring good communication with resource sharing partners.

The Association provides an award to recognise the highest achieving graduating student in every ALIA Accredited librarianship and library technician course, as a means of rewarding excellence.
