ALIA Statement on Afghanistan in August 2021. As libraries around the world work towards achieving the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, our deep concerns are for the best possible outcome for all people in Afghanistan, and particularly women and girls.
ALIA International Affairs Advisory Committee report on involvement in international activities
In 2017 the ALIA International Relations Advisory Committee was formed to advise the ALIA Board on issues related to international affairs, advocate on the benefits both for individuals and the Association in international engagement, encourage international collaboration and sharing of ideas and build awareness within the Australian library community of involvement in various international initiatives.
This brief report provides an update of international activities as of January 2018.
ALIA submission in response to the Australian Government Foreign Policy White Paper
Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Government's Foreign Policy White Paper. Libraries and other cultural institutions are well placed to contribute to foreign policy discussions in areas including:
- Australia’s contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Advice about the impact of trade agreements on domestic copyright
- Involvement in research and data initiatives to support Australia’s knowledge economy
ALIA's relationships with overseas library associations policy statement
The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) supports library associations around the world. Support for international library associations will be consistent with ALIA’s core values policy statement.
